Tae-ak Roh

Tae-ak Roh has served as a Justice of the Supreme Court of Korea since 2020 and was appointed Chairperson of the National Election Commission in 2022. Over his more than three-decade judicial career, he has held numerous key positions, including Presiding Judge at the Seoul High Court (2014, 2019), Chief Judge of the Seoul Northern District Court (2017), and Presiding Judge at the IP High Court (2009). In 2024, he became President of the Global Dispute Resolution System Research Group, continuing his leadership in international legal discourse and institutional reform.
He earned his LL.M. from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. in 1995 and his LL.B. from Hanyang University in Seoul in 1985. After passing the 26th Judicial Examination in 1984, he began his career in 1987 and went on to serve in various prominent judicial roles, including Research Judge at the Supreme Court (2000) and Professor at the Judicial Research and Training Institute (2003). As President of the Korea Private International Law Association since 2022, he has been a leading voice in advancing both domestic and cross-border legal systems with a strong commitment to justice, governance, and legal education.
