Woong Seok Joung

Dr. Woong Seok Jeong is the President of the Korean Institute of Criminology and Justice (KICJ), a role he assumed in 2024. A leading expert in criminal procedure and legal policy, he also serves as Chair of the Fourth Industrial Revolution Convergence Law Association and is an active member of the Criminal Justice Policy Advisory Committee of the Supreme Prosecutors’ Office. His recent appointments include a position on the Korea Medical Dispute Mediation and Arbitration Agency’s Non-executive Committee, reflecting his wide-ranging expertise across legal disciplines.
Dr. Jeong holds a Ph.D. in Law from Yonsei University and has had a distinguished academic career as Professor of Law and former Dean of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at Seokyeong University. He has previously chaired the Korean Association of Criminal Procedure Law and served on key national legal reform bodies, including the Prosecution Reform Committee and the Investigation System Reform Council. His career reflects a deep commitment to advancing justice through policy innovation, academic leadership, and institutional reform.
